Checking In

  • Please be prepared to provide all of your medical and vision plan insurance cards. We will need this information to correctly and efficiently file claims with your insurance provider.
  • Please confirm that we have the correct contact information on file.
  • We will need the names and phone numbers of those with whom we can contact in case of an emergency and with whom we are permitted to share your medical information.
  • Understand that we will obtain and place on file a digital photograph of each patient. This helps to protect you against identity or insurance fraud.
  • Be prepared to pay any co-pays or past due balances at check-in.
  • Please note that all patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied to their appointment by only one parent or legal guardian. Until the COVID pandemic is no longer a threat to our community, additional family members will need to wait in their car or stay at home.

Wait Times

  • Please note that patients are taken back according to their appointment time, not arrival time.
  • We do our very best to be as efficient as possible while giving you the personal, thorough attention you deserve. However, at times vision-threatening emergencies may arise, therefore we appreciate your understanding as we care for these patients. We will do our best to quickly work through delays.
  • If you find that you are unable to wait, please let our receptionist know, and we will gladly reschedule your appointment.
  • Please note that some testing, such as dilation, involves a waiting period which may vary from person-to-person.

Your Exam

  • You will be greeted by one of our highly trained, certified ophthalmic technicians for the preliminary part of your eye history and examination. The technician will perform a variety of special tests to assist your eye doctor.
  • Please provide the technician with a list of current medications and dosages.
  • Before leaving, please be sure to ask your technician about any prescriptions or refills to be given by your eye doctor.

 Refractions

  • A refraction is the process of determining your best corrected vision and the potential need for corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses. It is an essential part of the eye exam and is necessary to obtain a prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
  • Refractions are NOT covered by Medicare or most medical insurance plans. We will NOT file the charge for the refraction with your health insurance unless we know that your plan covers the refraction charge.
  • Please note that our office fee for the work involved in performing the refraction is $48, and this fee is due at the time of service in addition to any co-payment your plan may require. Should your insurance plan pay for the refraction, we will reimburse you accordingly.

Checking Out

When your visit is complete, the technician will escort you to our checkout desk. At this time, you can pay for the services provided and set up your follow up appointment.
